Hello and Welcome!

HISTORY OF PINK: I was so drawn to this lovely calm and healing Pink House in 2002 when I walked in the doors (and soon purchased by a Divine miracle!). I needed a home and office and a way to cover the mortgage payment. And She (PINK!) needed so much work!! I had a whopping $16,000 to remodel a huge house :). All I could see was her beauty and possibilities! After putting in a new outdoor walk and stairway, repairing and carpeting the main staircase and cleaning up the apartments as they became available, I was able to rent long term to creative local folks who became good friends. I could pay the mortgage and bills and sometimes have a tiny surplus. In about 2005/6 I remodeled and furnished (from thrift stores and Craig’s List) the Carriage House above the garage and rented by the month. This was a new concept and there was a need! Then as I saved the money, I was able to hire friends/professionals to remodel and paint each apartment, one by one. I enjoyed the thrifting, furnishing, decorating and especially connecting with our guests. With encouragement from my young adult daughters and friends, the “Pink Guest House” was born! …The projects continue to this day! 🙂 And with the birth of Airbnb, we’ve been able to be seen by travelers around the world!

During the first 15 – 18 years, I also worked mediating and facilitating work teams and families in my Pink home/office and around the northwest.

Then trained in and practiced Heart Centered Therapy for a few years. Truly, do not know how I did it all!? I was younger then :). Getaways to the mountains helped keep the balance.

After retiring from all the “professional” modalities, I was able to focus primarily on all things PINK: Our Guests, Projects and amazing Pink Team!

The last 2 years have brought a loving balance towards Family, Friends, Ellie and Travel! I feel BLESSED and GRATEFUL!

Backing up a bit, after selling my little cabin in 2016, in the Spring of 2017 our 8th apartment … The Cellar … was completed! It is so unique and inviting! A special shout out to Tim, remodeler extraordinaire. He took the vision and made it into a reality!  Since that time, we have almost finished remodeling all apartments except the main entree and my Pink Haven living area :)! There’s always another project to work on in a 1901 home!

In the last few years, we have re-roofed and redone the electrical. In 2024 we repainted this lovely Pink “Palace” and put in the new urban back Courtyard with veggie garden, horizontal fence and Tree of Life Gates! Thank you, Ryan!

Over the many years living here and managing Pink, I’ve enjoyed traveling when I could get away for a few weeks here and there:

ITALY: Biking and touring small villages at the base of the Dolomites, touring Venice with other bicyclists, train to Florence, toured Rome with an Australian couple from the Plane :);

SPAIN: Flying to Barcelona to visit youngest daughter going to University there … hitchhiking with her when there was no public transportation from a small town we were “stuck” in! A professor who wanted to practice his English picked us up as he knew we were Americans :);

FRANCE: Shared an apartment for 5 days with 2 new house mates in Paris I met (think 3’s Company!) … visiting cafe’s, jazz clubs, farmers markets and the Louvre, then week long unguided bike tour South of Paris through the back roads and vineyards (remember filling up our water bottles with wine at a vineyard that offered such things!) and villages with work colleagues from Boise (hysterical – we were constantly “lost”!), Farm Stay in So France with a family i met in bike shop … I thought I negotiated renting the daughter’s back bedroom and when we arrived with my rented bike, I found out i had rented a 4 bedroom 1800s farmhouse next to their farmhouse … with a shared pool!!… Oh My! :),

ENGLAND: Hostels and Pubs in and around London, Bath, and living in and driving around the very very narrow Cotswold’s roads with daughter and US friend (scary but funny!);

COSTA RICA: More Spanish immersion, Cloud Forest, walking a mile to school and back to my host family every day, dreaming in Spanish!, magical moment: white water rafting then stopping for lunch when a giant turquoise blue butterfly flew down the canyon and landed on my hand!, Healing Conference where I met friends from around the world who I’m still in touch with.

EGYPT: I was a last minute fill in on a Spiritual Journey that had been planned for years: Pyramids, Cairo Museum, Alexandria, “sailing” the Nile (amazing healthy food) and sleeping under stars on the deck of the boat, famous Egyptian Temples.

MOROCCO: The Medina of Marrakesh staying in very cool Airbnb met an interesting NYC reporter traveler, 3 day bus journey with other global travelers (so many languages!) to do overnight trek into the Sahara by Camel (harder than it sounds!!).

PORTUGAL: Old Lisbon, visiting friend and website developer Emeric when wallet with all cash and credit cards was stolen from my travel purse (I left zipper open!) in the town square while listening to music 🙁 .

HAWAII: February 2018 stayed at friend’s orchid farm on the Big Island of Hawaii riding her old rusty bike to favorite snorkeling and swim holes, hot springs, dancing, music with our dear Naturopath friend and all their friends who lived nearby (sadly the farm and the entire area was buried by Kilauea/Pele lava flow in May that year).

MEXICO: February/March 2019 Attended Spanish school in Puebla as a beginner beginner (once again!) 🙂 and lived with Grandma Martha, her daughters (hijas) and their children (nino’s).  Ahora hablo un poquito de espanol, Mexico City and Coyoacan District where Frida Kahlo’s Blue House is, world famous Museum and ancient Temples in the area.

EQUADOR: February 2020 I spent the month traveling in breathtakingly beautiful Ecuador staying in Quito in the home of 2 Airbnb ladies, Cuenca small hotel for a week, German run yoga/backpacker eco-lodge in Vilcabamba then joined a National Geographic tour through the Andes jungles, hot springs, eco-lodges … drinking wine, breaking bread and savoring locro de papa with the lovely Ecuadorians and adventurous people I met from around the world. Then, flying home to Boise there were way too many masks …

In March 2020 came “LOCKDOWN”. Life as we knew it shifted.  How did those years impact you and your family and friends?  How did it hurt you? How did it grow you? How did it heal you? How are you continuing to find Connection, Peace and Joy?  Thank you GOD, We are RESILIENT. Riding the crazy roller coaster of the last several years, I have strived to be CURIOUS.  To be in FAITH and continue to seek TRUTH.  HEALING. COMMUNITY.  CREATIVITY.  CONNECTION.  JOY.  FREEDOM!

EVERYONE has a travel story or 2.  This one comes to mind!

My grandparents were Cattle Ranchers in Southern Idaho when I was growing up.  There was no electricity, a generator as needed, kerosene lamps to read my Nancy Drew mysteries by.  While milking cows my younger sister and I, who normally lived in the “city”, squirted the thirsty kitties, helped harvest veggies in the garden, collected fresh eggs in the morning and made ice cream with Grandma in the afternoon.  We reluctantly bathed in the icy cold Owyhee River and rode big gentle horses while dodging rattle snakes!  … A couple years into Covid I stayed the very hot month of July on an old dusty Cattle Ranch in another state. Why you ask? What enticed me was the “relatively cheap” 1940s tiny log cabin with wood stove in the picture, a small spring fed pond to cool off in, the giant organic garden, the mama and baby cows, chickens and dogs… and only 4 people living/working there. When Ellie and I arrived in the 100* temps, we found a rickety dirty bug infested cabin surrounded by foxtails and cheatgrass (poor Ellie, I had to dig them out of her paws nightly with a headlamp – she wouldn’t wear booties), one box fan, 3 small windows with holy screens , a dorm fridge that didn’t work properly (the grocery store was an 80 mile round trip away), a patio with no sun cover. I repaired, cleaned and made due while getting into a ranch routine. The dysfunction of the rickety cabin reflected the dysfunction on the Ranch. 3 of the folks were seriously miserable living and working with the eccentric mostly intoxicated owner/artist.  Towards the end of my stay, I was asked to mediate. By the owner. It lasted 2 days. Ended up being a bit of an intervention. Powerful and life changing for All of us. GOD is so Good.

VAN LIFE: In the fall of 2023, I bought a Camper Van with the initial intention of driving cross country and being with my twin grand babies and family in Atlanta, GA for several weeks. Then exploring Florida and chasing sunshine during the winter. But how could I leave Pink? Through a DIVINE connection, I met Jacquie and Leah who were just creating Oak and Maple Property Management! … 2 lovely heart centered, communicative, hard-working ladies that I knew in my heart would take care of the Pink House and YOU, our Guests, like I would! They became my Co-hosts on AirBnb … and the rest is history! I am now traveling the country several months out of the year in Lola Pearl the Van with Ellie May, the Doodle! Then traveling back home to Pink for months at a time to do projects, connect with guests/neighbors/friends/family/church. WE are so BLESSED! Giant THANK YOU to Jacquie and Leah!

I have lived in the Boise and surrounding area my entire life and am mom to two grown bright independent bilingual daughters and darling twin grand kiddos, Sophia and Marshall, who at this writing are over 4 years old! We are all active and love to travel. While you are here in Boise, I am happy to be your neighbor and share conversation, a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and hear YOUR stories! Jacquie and Leah will take care of anything administratively 🙂 and can share their directory of all COOL things and places in and around Boise!

May you enjoy my hometown … and home … as much as I do!

Blessings to you and yours!
